According to the FreddieMac Primary Mortgage Market Survey, average U.S. mortgage rates ended 2019 significantly lower than where they were at the end of 2018.
- 30-Year Fixed Mortgage (FRM): Averaged 3.74 percent, barely up from last week when it averaged 3.73 percent. A year ago at this time, the 30-year FRM averaged 4.55 percent.
- 15-Year Fixed Mortgage: Averaged 3.19 percent, unchanged from last week. A year ago at this time, the 15-year FRM averaged 4.01 percent.
- 5-Year Adjustable-Rate Mortgage (ARM): Averaged 3.45 percent, up from last week when it averaged 3.37 percent. A year ago at this time, the 5-year ARM averaged 4.0 percent.
