Real estate company Keller William is claiming that it is now the largest franchise firm in the U.S. based on its 2017 sales, according to Inman News.
Keller Williams agents generated $303.4 billion worth of real estate sales in the U.S. in 2017, up 15% year over year. Meanwhile, with 177,000 agents worldwide, the Texas-based company increased its headcount by 13% from last year.
Keller Williams — which shares profits with agents — said agents turned $171 million in profits in 2017, up 13 percent from 2016. Franchise owners received a total of $196.7 million, a year-over-year increase of 11 percent. (In 2017, Keller Williams International received $196 million in royalties.)
If that’s true, that means Keller Williams has overtaken Re/Max for sales volume in dollars–long seen as the market leader. However, the claim came without official figures from Re/Max, to compare to, as the latter company has not released its fourth quarter 2017 earnings, and it’s third quarter earnings of that year also remain delayed.
