The Palm Springs City Council voted to phase-out short-term vacation rentals in apartment buildings over two years. The move is in response to the increasing popularity of short-term vacation rentals, which has pressured locals to start living outside the city limits. In fact, only 22% of city employees live in Palm Springs, according to a city staff report. “When our own staff can’t afford to live here, that’s a problem,” said Councilman J.R. Roberts during Wednesday night’s council meeting.
