Mortgage Rates Drop Significantly in 2019

According to the FreddieMac Primary Mortgage Market Survey, average U.S. mortgage rates ended 2019 significantly lower than where they were at the end of 2018.

  • 30-Year Fixed Mortgage (FRM): Averaged 3.74 percent, barely up from last week when it averaged 3.73 percent. A year ago at this time, the 30-year FRM averaged 4.55 percent.
  • 15-Year Fixed Mortgage: Averaged 3.19 percent, unchanged from last week. A year ago at this time, the 15-year FRM averaged 4.01 percent.
  • 5-Year Adjustable-Rate Mortgage (ARM): Averaged 3.45 percent, up from last week when it averaged 3.37 percent. A year ago at this time, the 5-year ARM averaged 4.0 percent.
